Roof Cleaning in Newport

Are you looking for roof cleaning in Newport? Due to our wet UK climate moss, lichen and algae thrive on our roofs. This can look unsightly and damage your roof, reducing the life of your costly roof. We offer different methods according to the roofs being cleaned, the level of infestation, access and customer preference. If you are searching for “Roof Cleaning Newport“, “Roof Cleaning Cardiff” or in the surrounding areas we can help you.

Why should you have your roof cleaned?

  • Property looks visibly cleaner and more presentable
  • Moss and lichen feed off your roof damaging the surface.
  • Moss will lift up your tiles as it grows, allowing water ingress
  • Stop the moss falling off your roof and landing on your floor areas
  • Gutters will need to be cleared out less often.
  • Less weight on roof. Moss acts like a sponge and holds on to water.
  • Choice of roof colours available (ask for more details)

How can we clean your roof?

There are two approaches to roof cleaning. We can either pressure wash the roof (under low pressure) or scrape and softwash the roof.

Pressure wash

  • First, we carry out a (Low pressure) pressure wash of the roof area. This is carried out at around 50 bar of pressure. We minimise the pressure when cleaning the roof to ensure water does not get into the roof space.
  • Second, we empty the gutters and clear up all the moss and dirt.
  • Last, we apply a biocide to kill the moss, lichen and algae spores. Keeping the roof cleaner for longer.

Scrape and Softwash

  • First, we scrape the large moss and lichen from the roof area. This is carried out with profiled scrapers designed for your roof tiles to ensure as much moss is scraped off as possible.
  • Second, we empty the gutters and clear up all the moss and dirt.
  • Last, we apply a biocide to kill the moss, lichen and algae spores. Keeping the roof cleaner for longer and brightening the roof as they clean the tiles/slates. Once the biocide is applied the rain will improve the look of the roof and continue to clean it over a course of months.
